Summary | 0003988: Time-dependent maxCo and maxDeltaT
Description | For engine simulations, having a time-dependent maxCo and maxDeltaT would make much sense, since one would want a larger maxCo number limit after EVO and a smaller one or even a fixed time step during combustion. This would be possible if maxCo and maxDeltaT would be functions of time, instead of being fixed. I have a small patch which implements such a feature in fluidSolver. Would you be willing to accept such a contribution?

It is not clear why maxCo and maxDeltaT should be specifically time-dependent rather than flow or other property dependent; we have no cases and no sponsors requiring this specific change. In the new modular solvers framework it would be possible to allow access to these and other properties in a general manner so that they can be changed based on any properties. Please contact us directly to discuss support and maintenance funding for the developments you require. Also see https://openfoam.org/dev/how-to-contribute/ for details on how to contribute code. |
