There likely seems to be an issue with volPointInterpolate and wedge meshes, doesn't it? I get the very same artifacts (influence from zero values at patch points) with point sampling using cellPoint and cellPointFace methods but not with the cell strategy. Furthermore the point-interpolated patchFields from the OpenFOAM reader for paraview seem to be all zero. Hacky workaround: Change the patchField from wedge to zeroGradient and adjust the boundary fiel accordingly until this is fixed. |

From the "Additional Information OpenFOAM-1706" it appears this report relates to a fork of OpenFOAM rather than the official release OpenFOAM-5.0 by the OpenFOAM Foundation stated under the "Product Version". It is not clear if this issue is also present in the official OpenFOAM releases, but either way this development is low priority.
