Summary0001185: Problems with LaunderGibsonRSTM in the center of a two dimensional axi symmetric pipe (wedge)
DescriptionI try to compute an inlet boundary condition with boundaryFoam and LaunderGibsonRSTM by using a two dimensional axi symmetric pipe. A strange thing happens in the cell in the center of the pipe, where the velocity drops down.
This doesn't happen when using an eddy viscosity model or an older OpenFOAM version. It also happens when I use an in-house Reynolds-stress-model. Is there a problem in the newer OpenFOAM versions with using a wedge-type boundary condition and a Reynolds-stress-model.
Steps To ReproduceblockMesh
boundaryFoam
Additional InformationThis error also occurs on OpenFoam 2.3.x but it doesn't occur for older versions like 2.1.x

I ran your case in OpenFOAM-2.3.x and OpenFOAM-2.1.x and I get an identical solution for U and it appears to be correct for the conditions.

Could you please supply the U solution you get for 2.1.x and 2.3.x?

I attached a file with my U plots. I was wrong with OpenFOAM 2.1.1. The problem also occurs there. I also added the velocity I computed with OpenFOAM 1.7.x . There is no velocity drop in the center of the pipe. This was done on the same grid and also with LaunderGibsonRSTM.

Thanks for the bug-report, this is now fixed in

OpenFOAM-2.1.x: commit ccbaf836072aeff5696c682572b442b7588e3d1f
OpenFOAM-2.2.x: commit 68ae524fd94cc411e2727e571f011b65eaccc41c
OpenFOAM-2.3.x: commit 8038d7bc1d2ff14349fa153936fca3ea2a001204
