Summary | 0003745: On the behaviour of functionObjects in post-processing mode
Description | As far as I have tested, the function objects (such as forces, and forceCoeffs) when run in post-processing mode they will create N files, each file contains only one value at that particular time step, (N is the number of time steps). Example: If you run any case from the tutorials say for N=50 timesteps, when the simulation finishes, you add forces/forceCoeffs function object and run it: <solver> -postProcess In the postProcessing directory you will find N=50 text files. I do not see the purpose of this behaviour. Why doesn't the function object output to a single file? On the other hand, openfoam.com version outputs only one single file when the function object is run via postProcess utility. (Note, as usual, I am not asking for any help, if you feel this doesn't fit here, just close it)
