Summary0001421: Problem with Uf in pimpleDyMFoam
DescriptionThe usage of Uf in pimpleDyMFoam can lead to increased mass imbalances at cyclicAMI interfaces and pressure oscillations.
Steps To ReproduceSimulate the attached case and execute createPost. Check the evolution of the pressure at the INLET and the mass flow rates at the cyclicAMI interfaces. Do a second run with the attached pimpleDyMFoam solver.

Could you clarify how much the mass-imbalance is increased by using Uf? From the graphs it appears that the mass-imbalance is more or less the same but with Uf there are also small oscillations or am I missing something?

mFlow.png shows the solution of the 2.3.x solver with the new ddtCorr term. Inlet flow rate is 0.00376, outflow 0.00315. (15% difference).

mFlow_mod.png shows the solution of the modified solver without ddtCorr term (corresponding to solver from 2.2.x without ddtPhiCorr). The flow rates at inlet and outlet are almost identical.

I have fixed the problem in OpenFOAM-dev and running some tests. I will push the fix to OpenFOAM-dev and OpenFOAM-2.3.x later today.

Resolved by commit 719bf1b4e7dc29f6e5a8c7b1d2be39fff4de1c5a in OpenFOAM-2.3.x
